Job title: Accounts Assistant
REPORT TO: Finance Manager

Job Description (Duties):

Duties and Responsibilities:

Managing Accounts Receivables and Payables.
Dealing with payroll issues.
Filing of VAT returns on a monthly basis and other statutory reporting.
Dealing with accountabilities and allocating them accurately through postings.
Records, classifies and summarizes accounting transactions.
Compiles and assembles various documents for data entry, verifying accuracy of itemized charges, account numbers, and total costs.
Data entry/Posting of transactions in Tally.
Manages collections from debtors and payments to creditors.
Selects correct accounts, posts, verifies, balance debit and credit entries.
Reconciles accounts and assists in the compilation of reports.
Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.
Maintains records through filing, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding, updating and purging.
Respond for inquiries and checking accounting transactions to locate and resolve discrepancies.
Provides according services to the senior management and individuals or organizations outside of the organization, such as government agencies and banks.
Uses various software applications such as MS Excel and Tally to assemble, manipulate and/or format and/or reports.
Strong understanding of accounting concepts.
Strong practical skills for Tally Accounting Software.
Strong awareness of Uganda's tax systems.


Necessary Qualifications:

A Bachelors degree in B.com (Accounting)
ACCA or CPA qualification will be an added advantage.
2 Years professional experience and use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets and proficiency in Tally.
Good team player and quick decision maker.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Presentable individual.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Capturing and management of all Life policies, including but not limited to, Individual Life, Group Life, Credit Life Policies.
Contact Clients relating to Spot checks, Additional Information, Policy Maintenance, Claims.
Follow-up with banks in respect of Direct Debits.
Ensuring payments are captured and reflected on the Administration (Orfeo) system.
Identifying gaps and learning opportunities.
Support team leaders where required.
Liaise with corporate client, brokers, banks, re-insurance and other stakeholders with respect to policies, claims and premiums.
Ensure pro-active identification of system gaps, processes and policy alignment when necessary.
File application forms for all policies.
Issue and distribute policy applications to clients.
Processing all insurance claims.
Carefully maintain all records related to the claims and also submit related to management as required.
Manage and account for all the policy administrative resources like policy jackets, files, water mark papers etc.


Necessary Qualifications:

Relevant diploma or degree.
